Navarathri was celebrated on 10.10.2024 at the department level. Staff members and students actively participated, did holy decorations, offered prasadam, and prayed the God for blessings and prosperity.
The Creative Hands Clothing and Home Decorating Expo was a remarkable showcase of skill, creativity, and sustainable practices by the students of the Home Economics Unit, Faculty of Arts. The event was organized by Level II Home Economics students on 06. 11.2024 at the lobby area of Faculty of Arts as a part of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of University of Jaffna
Students from Home Economics Unit actively participated in the final day of the Elders day celebration on 07.10.2024 at State Home for Elders , Kaithady, contributing to the overall success of the event. The event was jointly organized by Department of Social Service, Northern Provincial Council and the State Home for Elders- Kaithady. This celebration aimed to honor the elderly residents, providing them with entertainment, companionship, and a sense of community appreciation.
The Home Economics Association of the University of Jaffna actively participated in the Agricultural Exhibition organized by the Northern Provincial Agriculture Department from October 2nd to 4th, 2024, at the Department of Agriculture in Thirunelveli. The theme of the exhibition was Towards Eco friendly sustainable agriculture era. They set up a millet-themed stall, aiming to promote the use of millets as a healthy and sustainable food source. The stall featured five different types of millets and offered a wide range of traditional Sri Lankan dishes made from them.
The students of the Home Economics Association at the University of Jaffna made a significant contribution to the International Tourism Day celebration by organizing an innovative and impactful food stall titled "Millet Spoon" from 27th to 29th of September 2024. The "Millet Spoon" stall attracted a wide audience, including academics, administrative staff, non-academic staff, students, and members of the general public. The stall was prominent for its focus on millet-based dishes and other healthy, traditional foods. The menu reflected creativity, nutritional value, and a deep understanding of local ingredients.
